Methodist Mission Home is pleased to announce the promotion of Helen Ruttenberg to Family Services Director. Helen has been with MMH since August 2006, as an adoption counselor for birthmothers. She has been working with both birthmothers and adoptive families in adoption services since 1991. In addition to leading the Family Services team, Helen will expand awareness of our services through marketing and outreach. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Methodist Mission Home will host an Adoption Information Session at University UMC, 5084 DeZavala Road, San Antonio, TX 78249 on April 24 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Adoption is a parenting alternative and solution to the cycle of child abuse in our country. This event is free and open to the public. Methodist Mission Home will be host to the 11th “A Walk With Jesus” (WWJ). Chaplain Gina Symons, with her team of volunteers and clergy, design this religious retreat to meet the spiritual needs of our Southwest Center for Higher Independence (SCHI) students. “The retreat was designed to give persons with physical and cognitive disabilities the opportunity to experience, on their level of understanding, what so many have enjoyed on the Walk to Emmaus – an experience of unconditional love, of community support and of basking in the grace and glory of God,” Gina Symons says.
