Mike & Fran

Hello,

mikeandfranThank you for taking the time to read our letter.  Your strength and desire is admired by us to do what is right for your baby. Your decision is truly an act of immeasurable faith, love and caring. You are very brave in taking this step towards entrusting us with the love and nurturing your baby so much deserves. We believe that every child is a loving gift from God with the ability to bless so many lives. Our prayers are with you and your baby, and the decisions that you must face.

We are Mike and Frän. We grew up together in Florida attending the same elementary, middle and high school. We followed our own paths after high school but were blessed by re-acquaintance at our high school reunion in 2003. Our relationship blossomed into romance and we were married in the spring of 2004 in a quaint ceremony under a beautiful gazebo in our neighborhood park. Our relationship is strengthened by our spiritual roots and mutual desires to be a positive impact on the world around us.

Hi! I’m Mike and I’m 44 years young.  I recently retired from the US Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant, having worked in the field of secure communications.  I grew up in a loving Christian family, spending most weekends and holidays with relatives creating many traditional “southern” family memories like Sunday afternoons with the grandparents, horseback riding, swimming in the creeks, and home-made ice-cream on the back porch.  For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be blessed with God’s gift of children.  I truly look forward to sharing life’s lessons and creating similar and new memories with a child entrusted to our care.  I love to spend time in the outdoors experiencing nature in some way, whether it is hunting, hiking, canoeing, camping, fishing, or just a leisurely walk.  I believe it is incredibly important for a child to experience the awe of God’s creation in nature, to feel the tranquility it provides, to respect its power and to understand the abundance it can provide with proper stewardship.  On the lighter side, I believe that a house full of laughter is a house full of love and I promise this child’s laughter will never fade.  There’s certainly a circus’ share of silliness to go around our family.  I also believe that raising a child through positive encouragement, not fear, helps build self confidence, respect and trust.  When it comes to fun, don’t leave me out.  I’m full of adrenaline when it comes to theme parks like Six Flags or Disney World; call me a big kid in that regard!  I can’t wait to share those times with this child.  I believe that education is an important factor in finding our path in life and we’ll ensure this child has the opportunity for a college education if he/she should decide to attend.  I was fortunate enough to earn a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Maryland and an Architectural Certificate from Carolina Community College while contemplating my career path.

Hi, I’m Frän and I’m also 44 years young.  I studied Desktop Publishing in college and I have 2 very bright, loving kids from a previous marriage. My daughter is a recent graduate from FSU with a degree in Studio Art. My son attends UWF/UF seeking a degree in Electrical Engineering.  I love to go to the beach, swim, hike, boat, camp, ride bikes, throw the frisbee and do crafts.  I like to stay fit by exercising every day.  I’m also an avid reader keeping up-to-date on health and nutrition.  My passion is my family.  I will be a stay-at-home mommy. I believe in attachment parenting; it builds mutual respect.  I’ll keep the baby close to me by wearing a sling. Organic food and an organic nursery are very important to me.  My belief is to allow a baby to build its own natural immunity through proper nutrition, plenty of sunshine, and lots of free time to play and explore. I am also very conscientious about having a non-toxic home.  I do like to watch TV, but I don’t want to raise a child addicted to television or video games.  Our baby will not be put in a daycare.

After Mike retired from the Marine Corps in San Antonio, we moved back to the Emerald Coast of FL to be near family. We attend an awesome Christian church that has an amazing praise band.  Through our church and Compassion International we sponsor a sweet little girl named Uwineza Claudine.  She lives in Rwanda, a country in Africa.  We own a beautiful acreage lot near Canyon Lake in San Antonio and dream to one day build a beautiful lakeside home.  We love to visit our property as often as possible but for now beautiful, sunny Florida is home.

Our home is located in a very friendly, eclectic neighborhood and Mike’s parents conveniently live 4 houses away. A real playground with a merry-go-round, swing set and slide is in the neighborhood and a nice, paved, walking trail surrounds the entire development. Our home feels very cozy to us with plenty of space for a growing family.  Our home reflects the rustic charm of San Antonio with the coastal flare of FL.  We have a spacious yard just right for little feet!

Each fall, we love to go to northern Georgia or North Carolina and stay in a cabin, usually sharing this trip with close friends and their families.  We really enjoy visiting the pumpkin patches and eating delicious fried apple pies while we’re there.  We love to take in the beauty of the changing colors of the leaves during fall.  We also love to visit beautiful places that offer outdoor experiences, like Colorado, and drive or horseback through the mountains.  Sometimes we’ll camp and hike or go to a nice hot spring and relax.  During the summer, tubing on the waters of the local rivers cools us from the heat and humidity.  We spend most every holiday with our family celebrating the occasion and creating memories, especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We love to go to the Christmas tree farm, sip hot chocolate, and pick out the most special tree.  Almost every Sunday we have lunch with Mike’s parents.

Our family and friends are very excited for us and this decision. Grandma, Grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother and sister are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new family member. We all can hardly wait to share adventures and create memories with the new baby.

If you feel like our family is right for you, please don’t hesitate to call us anytime. We’d feel honored just to speak with you. Please contact us through a Methodist Mission Home Adoption Counselor at 1-800-842-5433.

God Bless,

Mike and Frän
