Paul & Natasha

paulandtashaDear Birthmother,

Excited, shy, hopeful, nervous- all these are emotions we are experiencing as we start our adoption journey together. We imagine you may be experiencing some of the same emotions as well. Regardless of who you choose as adoptive parents, we feel you are making a courageous and caring decision by creating an adoptive plan for your unborn child.

Let Us Introduce Ourselves
Our names are Tasha and Paul. We met in October of 2002, and married in May 2005. From the beginning, our relationship has been based on open communication and honesty. Using good communication skills is a valuable to tool to have in life and one we want to teach to our child.

In our spare time, we like to snuggle on the couch and watch TV together. Some of our favorite shows are Survivor Man and Ace of Cakes. We also like to have large barbeques with friends and family. Paul makes the best smoked brisket! We love cats and have two big lap cats named Princess and Charlie. We also volunteer at Adopt-A-Cat, a no-kill foster program here in Houston.

About Tasha
I grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts, a large town located about 30 minutes west of Boston. I loved the fall in New England. Now that I'm in Houston, I miss the leaves changing colors, the cold bite in the air, and the smell of burning wood from chimneys-but I do not miss all of the cold snow! I love the fact that it is gorgeous in Houston in February, while it's still sleeting and snowing in Boston.

Growing up, I lived in a house with my mom, dad, and two younger sisters, Tania and Emily. My youngest sister, Emily, is living with Paul and me while she finishes classes at a local community college. This fall she will study Criminology at Sam Houston State University. Emily is very excited about having a niece or nephew and says she wants be known as the "cool aunt." My parents are also excited that they will soon be getting their first grandchild. My sister Tania wishes she didn't live so far away from her future niece or nephew.

Holidays were an important part of my childhood. Our Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinners were big events with the whole family in attendance and my mother always cooked enough food for an army. I try to replicate those big family meals at my own house during the holidays, inviting neighbors, friends, and family to dine with us.

I love children and have wanted a child for a long time. I always planned on having at least one child and adopting a second child. In October, my friend Eileen had a daughter she named Phoebe. I was lucky enough to attend an ultra sound with Eileen and to be able to assist her at the hospital with Phoebe the day after she was born. It was an awesome experience.

Besides my love of children, I also love to read. This is fortunate since I am a teen librarian at a public library. As a librarian, I work to encourage teens to read and to use their library every day. I plan and host a variety of programs for teens, including a teen art contest, a teen writing contest, a dance workshop, and gaming events.

In my spare time, I take classic ballet lessons, which is something I have done since I was two years old. I also have a sweet tooth and enjoy baking cakes and cookies. My sweet tooth is so notorious that Paul surprised me on our wedding day by taking me to a Marble Slab. I dove out of the limousine in my wedding dress to get a bowl of Sweet Cream ice cream with M&M's. Right now, my other favorite pastime is getting the baby's room ready with Winnie the Pooh décor.

About Paul
I grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. My father was an electrical engineer, and my mom was a librarian. I have two older sisters: Ruth, who still lives in the Chicago area, and Sarah, who lives near us in Houston. I have one nephew named Jack. He is almost 4, and I love playing with him. I came to Texas for college and really liked the friendly people and warm weather, so I decided to stay after graduate school.

I grew up in a loving environment and had a very supportive family. We took summer vacations together, and my parents spent a lot of time with me while I was growing up. The time they spent with me has taught me how important it is that I spend time with my own children when I become a father.

Growing up, my father emphasized the importance of education. This lesson has stayed with me through my entire life; as a result, I like to learn and try new things, even if I am not good at it right away. I am looking forward to fatherhood and the role I will play in my own child's education and growth.

Tasha and I like to take vacations and cruises. One or our favorite trips was snorkeling for hours with manatees in Florida. I treasure the memories we have created on these trips, and look forward to creating even more vacation memories when Tasha and I become parents.

At home, I enjoy having barbeques at the house with family and friends. I take pride in caring for the roses, plants, and yard. I enjoy sports, especially football and basketball, and have recently entered a 5k run. I like to hunt, especially with my sister Ruth or brother-in-law, Chris.

I am a certified public accountant. I am dedicated to my profession and enjoy what I do. I feel very blessed that I have a job that can both provide for my family and be professionally fulfilling.

Our Home and Neighborhood
We live in a comfortable house in a top rated school system in northwest Houston. Our subdivision is made up of large houses that are generously shaded by tall pine trees. The fenced backyard has plenty of room for running and playing, and even has a swing set and fort ready for a child to explore.

Our Faith
We are Catholic, and our faith is a big part our marriage. We both feel that God brought us together and are grateful to Him for this every day. In addition to regularly attending Mass, we participate in our church's Christmas Angels program, where we adopt a family and help provide them with Christmas dinner and gifts on Christmas morning. We also make sandwiches once a month for day workers who are employed in the inner Houston area. We both feel it is important to working together to make your community a better place.

Our Hopes and Dreams for Your Baby
We have many hopes and dreams for your baby and our child. We want to see our child embrace this world with open arms. We will strive to do this through education and exposure to a variety of ideas. While we believe strongly in education and will ensure our child's college education is fully funded, we will also teach our child lessons outside the classroom. We are lucky to live in Houston, which is host to a wide variety of museums and art venues. We plan to take full advantage of these venues to further educate our child about history, science, language, and the arts.

Finally we want our child to have fun! Letting our child relax and just be a kid is very important to us. Some ways our child will be able to have fun are playing in the backyard on the swing set, making mudpies, riding bikes, playing house, making cookies and cakes together, reading bedtime stories, swimming in the community pool, visiting the Houston Zoo and Children's Museum, going to the beach, and just spending quality time together as a family.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter and are open to any questions you may have for us. We look forward to hearing from you and wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
Paul and Natasha
